Loving Husband, Father
ASHEVILLE — Carl David McCracken, 69, of Asheville, went to be with his Lord Friday, June 1, 2012.
David was born Aug. 23, 1942, in Buncome County, to the late Paul McCracken and the late Annice Boyd McCracken. He had resided in Buncombe County all of his life and was the owner and operator of McCracken Heating and Cooling, Inc. David also raised cattle and was well known throughout the community. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Alexander. David will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and papaw. He shall be deeply missed by family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert David McCracken; and brothers, Tom and Jess McCracken.
Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Kay Sluder McCracken; a daughter, Karen Candler, and her husband, Randy Candler, of Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren, Kassie Crutchfield, of Marshall, and Bella Candler, of Greenville, South Carolina; a great-grandson, Jason Crutchfield, of Marshall; a sister, Helen Hill, of Leicester; sisters-in -law, Melinda Morgan, and her husband, Webb Morgan, Joy Cipar, and her husband, Dale Cipar, and Kathryn Sluder, all of Leicester; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Alexander. The Rev. Charles Phillips will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will follow in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Leicester.
