Haywood County voters will be in one of two legislative districts, House District 118 or House District 119.

The 119th District includes five Waynesville precincts, Center, East, South 1, South 2 and West Waynesville, as well as the Allens Creek, Hazelwood, Iron Duff, Lake Junaluska and small part of Ivy Hill that are now in House DistrictDistrict 119. The district also includes Jackson and Swain counties.

In the race, veteran Waynesville legislator Joe Sam Queen, who previously served in a Senate district that was drastically changed during redistricting, faces Bryson City resident Mike Clampitt, who has retired from the Charlotte fire department.
