Davis receives award for Cataloochee preservation

Hattie Caldwell Davis was recently awarded a Top 100 People in Great Smoky Mountains National Park History medal for her preservation of Cataloochee history.

Davis is a member of the Haywood County Historical and Genealogical Society. She has written five books about Cataloochee, including "Reflections of Cataloochee Valley and Its Vanished People in the Great Smoky Mountains" and "Cataloochee Valley: Vanished Settlements of the Great Smoky Mountains." She has also published a tour guide with a map and made a film.
