CANTON — Deanna Joyce Howell, 57, of Reynolds School Road, entered her heavenly home July 5, 2014.
Deanna was born July 17, 1956 and was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Leola Howell Gibbs. Deanna had been employed with Haywood Regional Medical Center and MedWest Haywood as a certified nursing assistant. She was a 1974 graduate of Tuscola High School and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Waynesville. She loved to travel and was always thought of as a “mother” by many children throughout her life. She will be remembered and cherished as a friend to all and loved by everyone who knew her.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, “Butch” Howell, and a sister, Mary Howell.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherika Howell, of Charlotte; a son, Earmon “Bud” Howell, of Canton; brothers, Melvin Howell and his wife, Willie, of Fayetteville, and Earnest Howell and his wife, Johnnie, of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Wilma Jean Forney and her husband, Marshall, of Fayetteville, Martha McQueen, of Fayetteville, Thelma Howell, of Dale City, Virginia, and Lisa Tucker, of Asheville; grandchildren, Jamil Howell and Nevaeh Allison.
A homegoing celebration for Deanna will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Canton. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to service.
