DeBrew named district manager at Duke Energy
CHARLOTTE – Duke Energy has named Craig DeBrew as the district manager in the company’s Blue Ridge area.
DeBrew joined Progress Energy, then Carolina Power & Light Company, in 1986 as a marketing representative in Sumter, S.C. Over his career he has served as an industrial power engineer in Roxboro, N.C.; director of agricultural services in Florence, S.C.; area manager in Canton, N.C.; and lead account executive in Asheville, N.C. In his new role, DeBrew will oversee and promote Duke Energy’s community relations efforts in Cleveland, Henderson, Polk, Rutherford and Transylvania counties. His duties include working with local leaders, elected officials and community members on issues of importance to the region.
“We value our partnerships with the communities we serve in this area,” said Brett Carter, state president, Duke Energy North Carolina. “Craig’s variety of experience with the company, coupled with his local roots, will enable him to build upon those partnerships and further strengthen our relationship with our customers.”
DeBrew grew up in Cleveland County and is a 1981 graduate of Crest High School in Shelby. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological & agricultural engineering from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Energy Manager.
He is married to the former Krista Rayfield, a native of Cherryville and they have three daughters, Katie, Carrie Anne and Kristina.
“My family and I have been very blessed to call Haywood County home for the past seventeen years”, DeBrew said. “The wonderful people, churches, schools, health care, music, arts, and the unique character of the communities have made this a great place to raise a family. We will certainly miss these beautiful mountains and all our friends and neighbors.”
