‘Dementia, Exercise’ lecture to be April 23

Apr 10, 2013

The Smoky Mountain Center Geriatric & Adult Mental Health Specialty Team is partnering with The Area Agency on Aging and Haywood Senior Resource Center to present a lecture on “Dementia and Exercise.” This free training from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, April 23, at the Haywood Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, in Waynesville.

The lecture is a compilation of information from National Institute of Health, National Institute on Aging,  and Center for Disease Control.  The information includes two studies about the impact of exercise on dementia, what types of exercise have the most impact, how much and  how often  an individual needs  to exercise to possibly decrease the impact of dementia, and the intensity needed to potentiate protection against dementia.

If Haywood County Schools are closed due to weather, this event will be rescheduled. To learn more, contact Leslie Lawson at 356-2824.
