Dems collect gifts for family in need
The Haywood County Democratic Party gathered Dec. 11, at party headquarters, 286 Haywood St., to hold its annual holiday luncheon. In the spirit of the season, party members collected gifts for a family, identified by a local social services agency, as being in need. This giving program has become a tradition, and it was apparent that all involved were eager to participate.
Outgoing state Rep. Ray Rapp (District 118) made a surprise appearance at the luncheon. He wished all a happy holiday season and reminded attendees of the work still to be accomplished, especially in the area of public education.
“We are delighted to have Ray join us for the party, and we appreciate all the gifts and money given to us for the families through DSS,” said party chair Janie Benson.
