James Lee Hall, 40, is charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

Detectives with the Haywood County Sheriff's Office have arrested a registered sex offender who was missing earlier this week.

James Lee Hall, 40, was convicted of three counts indecent liberties with a child in 2003 and was released from prison in October, 2004.

He registered as a sex offender Oct. 27, 2004 and listed his address at 23 Winfield Street in Canton, but Det. James Marsh says Hall has been arrested multiple times for failing to notify the sheriff's office when he has moved.

"We recently had reports that he wasn’t staying there and found a different address that he had been living at since Nov 10. But last Thursday he wasn’t there and landlord said he had not been back," Marsh said.

Detectives eventually received information that Hall was staying at a home on Old Clyde Road and were able to arrest him a 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

He is charged with failing to register as a sex offender and is in custody under $8,000 secured bond.
