Meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the Frog Level Brewing Company to enjoy the second annual Dogs and Suds fundraiser for Sarge’s Animal Rescue Foundation. FLBC is at 56 Commerce St., in the Frog Level section of Waynesville. Music will be provided by the Celtic Knot Band.

Proceeds from this event will help fund Sarge’s efforts to save as many dogs and cats as possible from the County shelter and place them in foster homes until they can be adopted. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.  Ticket purchase is an automatic entry in drawing for $100 gift certificate to the Chef’s Table.  A 16 oz. beer, crafted by Clark Williams of Frog Level Brewing Company, hot dogs, chips and dessert will be served. This year the Blueridge BBQ Company will provide the hotdogs, and it won’t be your grandfather’s hot dog. There will a choice of 100 percent beef or smoked sausage with a variety of toppings (slaw, sauerkraut, chili, raw onions, sautéed peppers and onions).  Dessert cookies are courtesy of Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery.

Former restaurateur, Walt Cook, said, “I baked for people for 40 years before going to the dogs. Now when I hear a bark I know it’s because the food is a success.”

“We were happy for the turnout last spring,” said Clark Williams, owner of FLBC, but we hope more people will be able to come this year to support the services that Sarge’s provides.  I, for one, can’t say how much I appreciate Annie and Tula, my Sarge rescued dogs.”

“We brew our own root beer too, have sodas for the kids and are dog friendly,” added Williams, “so we hope the whole family will attend.”

Chuck Rector, owner of Blueridge BBQ, brought his dog, Maggie, to include her in the photo for this release.

“I have been working with Clark and Frog Level Brewing Company for awhile as a caterer for events at the brewery and now I am very happy to be able to supply the ‘dogs’ for Sarge’s fundraiser,” Rector said.

Advance tickets can be bought at Sarge’s Adoption Center, 256 Industrial Park Dr., Waynesville; Mountain Dreams Realty, 3457 Soco Road in Maggie Valley; and Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery, 102 N. Main St., in downtown Waynesville.

Sponsors for Dogs & Suds are Blueridge BBQ Company, the Tourism Development Authority, Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery and Frog Level Brewing Company.
