FAIRVIEW — Donald M. Cowan, Sr., 73 passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Laurels of Summit Ridge.

A native of Haywood County, he had resided in Fairview for the past 40 years.  He was the son of the late George M. Cowan, Jr. and Hazel Teague Cowan.  Don was a United States Air Force Veteran serving as a Airman 1^st Class. He was a former Road Captain in the Harley Owners Group.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Freshour of Greeneville, Tennessee; two sons, Mike Cowan and his wife Teresa of Asheville, and James Cowan of Ft. Bragg; close personal friend, Margaret Teague of Hendersonville; five grandchildren, Matthew, Joe, Jacob, Belynda and Brandon and six great-grandchildren.
