WAYNESVILLE — Dorthea Annea Greenarch Rogers, 80, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014. Dorthea was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Waynesville. She lived half of her life in Detroit, Michigan, as a detective with the Detroit Police Department. After her husband retired from GM in 1985, they returned to the Clyde/Waynesville area where she worked as director of security for the retail chain Roses. Most recently she was the manager of Balsam Manor apartments. She was a proud member of Hazelwood Baptist Church.
Dorthea was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Mae Smith and Rufus Lee Greenarch; her husband, James Lester Rogers; her children, David Lawerence McCracken, Dortha Jean McCracken and Derry Lewis McCracken; her brothers Rufus "Chuck" Greenarch Jr., Charles "Hoppy" Eugene Greenarch, Robert "Bobby" Lee Greenarch; and sister, Willie Margaret Greenarch Berry.
Surviving are her sons, Stephen Ray Jennings, Michael James Rogers and wife, Laura Ann Rogers; half-brother, Keith Greenarch; and three grandchildren, Sheilla McCracken and twins Kyle and Cody McCracken.
No open viewing or funeral service will be held as per her request for a direct cremation service. Burial will be in Garrett Hillcrest Cemetery in Waynesville. The family will have a private gathering at a later date.
