CLYDE — Douglas Leon Seay, 65, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Charles George VA Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William Lonzo Seay Jr. and Phoebe Bailey Seay.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Candy Seay.  He was a retired diesel mechanic with ABF Freight Systems and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.  He was a highly decorated U. S. Marine veteran, serving in Vietnam.  Doug never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.  He enjoyed traveling, especially out west with his wife and also loved his three dogs dearly.  Doug was very supportive and active in the North Carolina VFW working his way up in the organization to North Carolina VFW State Commander in 2010-11.
