Doughboys host Mountain Expos in a huge weekend series

Post 47’s junior club looks to improve on its 2-0 record

The Haywood Post 47 junior legion baseball team will face its stiffest test of the season when it hosts Asheville-based Showcase Mountain Expos Red in a three-game series, beginning tonight at 7 p.m. from the friendly confines of Tuscola Ballpark.
The Doughboys and Expos Red will play the second game at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 7, before wrapping up the series with a 2 p.m. Sunday contest at Tuscola Ballpark.
The Doughboys are currently perched on top of the Area IV West Division standings with a 2-0 record.
Manager Eryk McConnell’s probable starters for the series will be big lefty Jacob Bates (Murphy) for tonight’s game, righthanded Ethan Meece (Tuscola), who is 1-0 on the young season, will start Saturday night’s game, while the lanky righty Austin Dahl (Franklin), who is also 1-0 on the mound,will start the series  finale on Sunday.
