A Family Man

WAYNESVILLE —  Douglas Farrell “Doug” Bowen, 82, of Shelton Street, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at MedWest-Haywood.

A native of Haywood County, he had previously lived in Newport News, Virginia, where he worked as a welder in the shipyard.  He was the son of the late Lon and Ruth Winchester Bowen and was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha F. Bowen, who died in 2010.  He was a retired welder from the Dayco Corporation, and was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church since 1939.  Doug was an avid trout fisherman and enjoyed camping with his family and friends from Myrtle Beach to Indian Creek.
