Douglas Monroe Hannah
WAYNESVILLE — Douglas Monroe Hannah, 67, died on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at The Homestead. Doug was born on Dec. 31, 1949, in Haywood County to the late Carl Bryson and Lorena Messer Hannah. Doug was a well known mechanic for many years. He attended Cove Creek Baptist Church and was always faithful to attend the New Year’s Singing at Thad Woods Auction.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Arthur Hannah; his sisters, Mazie Carver and Mildred Green; and a brother-in-law, Carroll Carver.
Doug is survived by his sons, Bryan Hannah and Thad Hannah; special nephew, Joey Rathbone; his sisters, Maggie Rathbone and Betty Lou Melton; grandchildren, Haley and Heidi Hannah; Keitha King, the mother of his children; his sisters-in-law, Yvonne Hannah and Evelyn Hannah; and brother-in-law, Milford Green; and his caregiver and companion, Nancy King.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremation with the Rev. Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home place.
