Loving Husband, Father

MAGGIE VALLEY — Douglas William Shearer, 76, of Maggie Valley, passed away Monday, July 30, at Medwest-Haywood.  He was born Sept. 29, 1935, to the late George and Ruby Ziegler Shearer.

Douglas was a big-hearted man, who truly loved his children and grandchildren. His family and friends knew him as a perfectionist in everything he accomplished. Douglas had a very special love for his “Lucy."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Carlton Sr.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marcia; three sons, Clay (Kim), Bobby (Lisa “Lucy” Urquhart), and Greg (Sydney Milan); one brother, Thom (Charlotte); four grandsons, Brad, Scotty, Kyle, and Mathew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
