Dragoons’ American Legion baseball schedule released

Post 47 to open 2013 season hosting Henderson County

The Haywood County Post 47 American Legion baseball team is scheduled to play a 16 game regular season schedule for its inaugural 2013 season.
The Post 47 Dragoons are scheduled to open the regular season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, hosting Henderson County Post 77, at the Tuscola Baseball Complex next to Junaluska Elementary.
Post 47 will have nine home regular season games, including a doubleheader for its home finale on Wednesday, June 26 with Cherryville Post 100, and seven away games.
The Dragoons are a member of the nine-team (Alexander County officially dropped its team last week) Area IV West Division.
The regular season must conclude by July 2 as the postseason begins Saturday, July 6 with the four Area League playoffs.
The top two teams in each of the Area I, II, III IV playoffs advance to the North Carolina Tournament in Wilson, July 25 to 30.
The state champion then qualifies for the Southeast Regional in Asheboro, August 8 to 12. The SE Regional champ will earn a spot in the 2013 American Legion World Series in Shelby, August 16 to 20.
