Eagles cruise past Tuscola to claim WNCAC crown
Dressed in all black, the Tuscola varsity football team took their home field at C.E. Weatherby Stadium for the last time this season.
While Senior Night’s “Blackout” served as a clever motivational tool, there was not enough “black magic” to save the Mountaineers from the powerful offense of the East Henderson Eagles, which cruised to a 55-24 victory and at least a share of the WNC Athletic Conference title.
The Eagles improved to 9-1 overall (6-0 WNCAC) while the Mountaineers dropped to 3-7 overall (3-3 WNCAC).
“My hats off to East Henderson,” said Tuscola Head Coach Brandon Allen. “They’ve got a tremendous ball club, tremendous athletes, and their coach did a great job.”
Any hopes that Tuscola had of an upset were pretty much put to rest when East Henderson jumped out to a 21-0 lead ...
