Early dental health emphasized

With the rise of dental cavities in children between ages 2 and 5, especially in Western North Carolina, early dental care is important.
More than 52 million school hours nationwide are lost to managing dental concerns in this age group.
Finding a dental home for children as early as age 1 is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry to address dental health, oral habits, and management of bumps and falls.
Even the creators of "Sesame Street" are working hard to help raise awareness with their new campaign, "Healthy Smiles Healthly Me."
In Haywood County, Great Beginnings Pediatric Dental Specialists has a full week planned to highlight the importance of dental care within this age group as it celebrates Great Beginnings Toddler Week.
