Former Clyde Alderman, Businessman

CLYDE — Edward “Ed” Smith, 86, went home to be with the Lord  Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at MedWest-Haywood.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Garland and Lora Haney Smith.  He was also preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; and a grandson-in-law, Rusty Trull, who died in 2007.  He was owner and operator of Smith’s Garage and later Smith’s Used Cars.  He served two terms as alderman for the Town of Clyde.  Ed loved golfing, fishing, and gardening.
