Loved By Everyone

CANTON —  Edith “Edie” Mae Hawkins Abbott, 94, of Johnson Drive, passed away peacefully to her eternal heavenly home, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, on the birthday of her devoted and loving daughter, Joyce.

“Nanny Edie,” as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was born in the summer season July 27, 1918, in the beautiful mountains of Sunburst Logging Camp to the late Robert Edward Hawkins and the late Maude Medford Hawkins.

The Hawkins family later moved to Canton where Edie grew up and graduated from Canton High School.  During her high school years she enjoyed playing tennis and making many dear friendships that have lasted a lifetime.  Edie was indeed a beautiful young lady.
