An elderly woman drove her car through the window and dining room at Nico's Cafe around 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

Though the restaurant is usually most busy at lunchtime, luckily, the cafe was closed for vacation that day.

"This room would have been full of people," said restaurant manager Carrie Bryson.

Waynesville Fire Department Chief Joey Webb said nobody was injured in the accident, which broke two large windows in front of a bar-style seating area looking out onto the parking lot.

The woman told authorities she was attempting to park in front of the restaurant when she accidentally drove through the window. Her Subaru Outback had a small amount of damage on the front bumper.

Bryson said the restaurant will be closed until they are able to make repairs. Until then, the building will be secured and under video surveillance.
