CANTON — Ella Mae Allen Boone, 84, of Lake Logan Road, passed away into the arms of the angels Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Mrs. Boone was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Haywood County to the late Homer E. Allen and the late Hermie Birchfield Allen. She had resided in Corpus Christi, Texas, for 30 years before returning to Haywood County where she had resided for the past 19 years. Ella was a member of the 1951 graduating class of Bethel High School where she had made many lasting friendships and later traveled extensively as a Navy wife with her beloved husband, John. Mrs. Boone was a talented seamstress and dedicated homemaker. She was indeed a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening and fishing. Ella’s kindness and generosity to others will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker and Ella’s precious memory shall be cherished forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Surviving are her loving husband of 61 years, John Edward Boone Sr.; her sons, John Edward Boone, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Oak Harbor, Washington, Homer Franklin Boone and his wife, Sharon Anne, of Canton, and Jesse Wilson, of Suffolk, Virginia; four grandsons, four great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, June 4, in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
