Ernest Ray Davis

SHARPSBURG, GEORGIA — Chief Ernest Ray Davis, USAF (retired), 74, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, and Waynesville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013.
He was born on Nov. 26, 1938, in Candler, to the late Norman Vance Davis and the late Beulah Estelle Williams. In 1958, he graduated from Enka High School and joined the U.S. Air Force later that year. He married Annie Gertrude Hedden Jan. 25, 1959, also in Candler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Annie Gertrude Davis; sons, Daniel Davis and wife Linda (Belleville, Illinois), Brice Davis and wife Patti (Lebanon, Illinois), Brian Davis, and wife Angela McMillan (Peachtree City, Georgia); sisters, Barbara Jones and husband Bill (Liberty, South Carolina), Patti Harris (Hendersonville); and six grandchildren in both Illinois and Georgia.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers John “Sandy” Davis, Marvin Eugene Davis, Bruce Davis; and sister Norma June “Mickey” Schultz.
The funeral service will be held at noon Friday, April 5, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
