CANDLER — Henry Eugene James, 77, of Old U.S. Highway 19-23, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
Mr. James was born May 5, 1935, in Haywood County to the late Clinton Odell James and the late Mary Louise Parton James. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. James had resided in Candler for the past 43 years and was a self-employed brick mason. His masory talent can be found all across Western North Carolina and one of his special projects was the Calvary Baptist Church in Canton. Eugene loved to deer hunt and truly enjoyed “flea marketing.” He shall be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Odell James Jr.
Surviving are his sons, Ronald James, of Canton, Darrell James, of Asheville, and Heath James, of Leicester; three grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Putnam, of Canton and a brother, Hillard James, of Canton.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
