Waynesville, NC - The Classic Wineseller presents “In Close” with Eve Haslam & Satin Steel Jazz on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 7:00pm, 20 Church Street in Waynesville. Ms. Haslam will be joined by Brian Felix, piano and Zack Page, bass. The evening’s music will consist of Bossa Nova, original compositions, and jazz classics.

New York born and bred, Eve Haslam is the visionary for the Satin Steel Jazz Ensemble which released its first CD, “A Thousand Years Ago” this year. From early childhood, Ms. Haslam was the vocalist for her Juilliard-grad composer dad, Herb Haslam. After high school, Ms. Haslam studied under the late European opera coach, James Partridge. Today, her vocal styles are influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Diane Schuur, Anita O'Day, Elis Regina, Gal Costa, Flora Purim, Nancy Wilson, and Keely Smith.
Haslam has been profiled in Rapid River Art Magazine, VERVE, WNC Woman, and The Mountaineer, and is an integral part of the live Jazz scene in western North Carolina. She resides in Waynesville.
Brian Felix was born in New Jersey and began studying piano at the age of five. His early grounding was in classical music, but by his early teens his interest moved to jazz, rock and other improvisational keyboard styles. He became serious about the study of jazz music at Rutgers University where he earned a BA in Music. Felix subsequently earned a Masters degree at DePaul University, and in 2010, graduated from the University of Illinois with the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. In 2011, Felix moved to Asheville, NC, where he is a Professor of Jazz and Popular Music at the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
Originally from the Washington DC area, Zack Page has toured the world appearing in Asia, the Far East, the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and in all 50 states. Page has played with artists such as Billy Higgins, Eddie Daniels, and Babik Reinhardt (son of Django Reinhardt). He is a regular on the jazz scene in western North Carolina, performing with a variety of groups including the hot gypsy jazz group, One Leg Up, The Page Brothers Quartet, The Archrivals, The Hard Bop Explosion, Alien Music Club, Wendy Hayes, Crybaby, and Russ Wilson.He now makes his home in Asheville with his wife and two young children.
