Evelyn M. Rogers
WAYNESVILLE — Mrs. Evelyn M. Rogers, 89, of Waynesville, passed away Dec. 4, 2012, at Autumn Care Nursing. She was born in Haywood County to the late Zeb and Elizabeth Moody.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father’s second wife, Cornie; her husband, Max Q. Rogers; a brother, Carl Moody and a sister, Cecelia Ricci. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed making a home for her children and grandchildren. She was an expert quilter, loved to garden, especially picking black berries, she enjoyed her cats, and her special friend “Rowdy." Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church Waynesville.
Survivors include her son, Bobby Rogers, and his wife, Cathy, of Waynesville; daughter, Linda Russell, and her significant other, Tom Tester of Lynchburg Virginia; special family friend, Thelma Ledford; grandchildren, Kevin Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Sandy Ledding, Mark Rogers and Bryan Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Zeb, Brock, Caitlin, Ben and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 7, in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bryan Buchanan will officiate and burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
