Farm to Table Dinner highlights local farm offerings

Eating local doesn’t have to mean a diet of corn and potatoes, and to prove it, the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center is having a Farm to Table Dinner on July 4, featuring meats and produce grown right here in Western North Carolina.

In fact, most of the food featured in the dinner will be from local farmers who operate no more than 30 miles from the center. The idea is to bring people’s attention to the many wonderful foods available fresh right here in the mountains.

“It highlights the farmers that are in the area, all the different varieties (of foods), from meat to fruit, that they produce,” said Michelle Fortin, special events manager at Lake Junaluska. “I don’t think people realize what’s available.
