There will be a 'Farm to Table Dinner' held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at the Nancy Weldon Gym at Lake Junaluska. The dinner, prepared with food from local farms, will help support local farmers and the food they produce.

“I started this because people around here are really interested in something like this,” said Michelle Fortin, special events and packages manager and creator of the Farm to Table Dinner.

The farms involved with the program are Balsam Gardens, Lenior's Creek Devon Grass Fed Beef, Rainbow Ridge Farm, Pineapple Sag Herb Farm, Mountain Harvest Organics and King Harvest Farms. These farms will serve food from grass-fed beef, salad greens, berries and other food items.

There will be a performance from The Freight Hoppers during dinner.

Tickets are on sale, and the turnout is expected to be around 100.

“If there is a good response about this dinner, then there will be more events like this,” said Fortin.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for kids (12 and under). Advance purchase is required. To order tickets, call 454-6738 or pick them up from the welcome center at Lake Junaluska.
