Pisgah to host Smoky Mountain (again) to open playoffs!

CHAPEL HILL — The North Carolina High School Athletic Association posted its finalized state football playoff brackets Saturday afternoon. Only one Haywood County team will play in the postseason as the Pisgah Black Bears (5-5), No. 2 seed in the 2-AA West bracket, will host the No. 7 seed Smoky Mountain Mustangs (4-6) this Friday night at Memorial Stadium in Canton.

The winner is slated to play either No. 3 seed South Iredell (9-1) or No. 6 seed West Lincoln (5-5) in the second round. The playoffs are seeded on a 10-game schedule, so teams that play 11 regular-season games have one loss removed.
