Firms selected to design college training facility

The Haywood Community College Board of Trustees met in a special called meeting on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 9 am.  Chair Richard Lanning presided over the meeting.

Brek Lanning, Director of Campus Development presented an overview of the top three design firms that were selected by the pre-selection committee to design the Public Services Training Facility at HCC.

The Board approved the ranking of the firms as recommended by the pre-selection committee. The top three design firms were No. 1, Padgett and Freeman Architects, Asheville, NC; No. 2, Stewart Cooper Newell Architects, Gastonia and No. 3, Architectural Design Studio, Asheville. The names of these firms will be submitted to the state construction office, and they will begin negotiations on behalf of the college.

The HCC Director of Campus  Development  stated in his presentation that the top two design firms both have previous experience in designing a public services training facility such as the one to be built at HCC.
