First place Bears stay undefeated in WNCAC

Allen pumps in 44 points in two games

CANTON — The Pisgah varsity girls basketball team is for real.
The Black Bears moved to 5-0 in the WNC Athletic Conference after trouncing North Henderson, 66-37, at home on Tuesday and whipping West Henderson, 65-44, on the road Wednesday night.
Pisgah, which also improved to 9-5 overall, plays at Smoky Mountain tonight.
Leading the Black Bears in the two games was freshman foward Brooklyn Allen, who finished with a game-highs against the Knights (20 points) and the Falcons (24 points).
In the North Henderson game, junior guard Sheridan Pressley chipped in nine points  and senior guard Taylor Galyean added 12. Pisgah led 29-20 at the half and broke open the contest in the third with a 23 point explosion to hold a 52-28 advantage going into the final eight minutes.
In the West Henderson game, Pressley pumped in 21 points as the Black Bears held a 57-30 lead after three quarters.

JV Girls
CANTON — It was one up and one down for the Pisgah JV girls basketball team.
Against North Henderson, Elizabeth Mammerelli’s game-high 24 points led the junior Black Bears to a 49-42 victory.
But in Wednesday’s game on the road, West Henderson handed Pisgah only its second loss of the season after the Falcons won, 51-40. Mammerelli had another game-high 10 points.
