The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department now offers a fitness class designed specifically for seniors. Another introductory meeting has been organized due to the high interest level and will take place on Monday, January 14, from 11 am to 12 noon at the Waynesville Recreation Center.

The twelve week program will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 am to 12 noon. On Mondays the focus is on cardio fitness using treadmills, ellipticals and bikes. Wednesdays will focus on cardio using the the pool and Fridays is for using the selectorized weight machines.

Overall improved health is the objective for each individual. You will learn about BMI, Fat percentages and resting, working and recovery heart rates. You will know machine settings and what will work best for you and how to continue training on your own after the program is complete. Empowerment is the key here and in most cases you will know more about yourself than when you began this program.

The cost is free to members or general admission to the Waynesville Recreation Center for non-members. For more information please call the Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department at 456-2030 or email
