The Haywood County Arts Council's new exhibition, Fluid Expressions, opens Feb. 13, at Gallery 86 at 86 N.Main in Waynesville.

The exhibit features the work of Dominick DePaolo and will run through Saturday, March 9.  An artist reception will be held at the gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22.

Gallery 86 is opened from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

DePaolo, who spent his childhood in Waynesville, has been a freelance artist for more than 40 years. He has also been an illustrator for the U.S. Navy and an art teacher at Prairie State College for almost 15 years. After 12 years of operating and teaching at the Long Grove Art School in Northwest Chicago, DePaolo now runs the school in Waynesville.

He is an award-winning artist, and his creations range from the nostalgic drawings of his Classic Cowboy Heroes and B-Western SideKicks to fine art paintings in oils and acrylics to colored pencil portraits of people, pets, and homes from photos.

His realistic style evokes a sense of America's most innocent days. This exhibit, Fluid Expressions, reveals new work created by Dominick DePaolo.

“Painting in many mediums has been my passion for more than 50 years," he said. "Looking for ways to express my visions in my paintings has been an adventure.  In this new collection entitled Fluid Expressions, I feel the paintings have more depth and movement. With the change in textures and the dripping paint, I feel it makes them much more expressive. I hope that visitors will relate at many levels when they view my new work.  This show is different than any in my past and I am excited to share it with you.”
