Flute, guitar duo perform Sept. 16 in Canton
The Haywood County Arts Council presents Kate Steinback, flute, and Amy Brucksch, guitar in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Haywood County Public Library, 11 Pennsylvania Ave. The free concert is sponsored by the Leapin’ Frog Gallery, and is part of the Sunday Concert Series co-sponsored by the Arts Council and the Friends of the Haywood County Library.
Combining finesse with artistry, these classically trained musicians perform an eclectic blend of works for flute and guitar. From Bach to Bossa Nova, Kate and Amy delight audiences with their playing and palette of musical styles. Their program will feature music of Mozart’s Magic Flute, Bizet’s Carmen as well as American Hymns and Bossa Novas.
Steinback and Brucksch have been collaborative partners since 2005 and produced a critically acclaimed CD, Luminescence, in 2010. They toured with the North Carolina Arts Council’s cARTwheels program in a production they designed. This multi-media show entitled, “Fandango, Tango, Huapango” was in collaboration with Cuarteto La Catrina and Charlotte Salsa Dance and brought Latin American chamber music to more than 10,000 children across the state from 2008-10.
