Four Black Bears named all-regionPHS varsity cheerleaders finishes third at NCCCAS competition in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE — The Pisgah varsity cheerleaders finished third in the large non-tumble division at the North Carolina Cheerleading Coaches Association Scholarship Competition on Saturday, Feb. 22.
All the money raised at this NCCCAS competition is for scholarships awarded to deserving high school cheerleaders.
“I am very proud of my team,” said Pisgah Head Coach Tammy P. Ensley. “We have faced several struggles this winter ... sickness, injuries, limited practice time due to the weather, but we still persevered and gave an awesome performance.”
The next competition for the Pisgah varsity cheerleaders will be at the Nationals at Canam in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in March.
In addition, Pisgah juniors Ariana Phillips, Taylor Rogers, Molly Mann and Christian Wyatt were named to the NCCCAS All-Region squad.
The selection process consisted of a written application with a recommendation from Coach Ensley and a video tryout.
The next step for Phillips, Rogers, Mann and Wyatt is tryouts for the all-state team. If any of the four make the all-state team, they will attend a workshop held at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, cheer at the East/West football and basketball games in July and perform at the North Carolina Cheerleading Coaches Conference in July.
