Frances 'Shorty' Swanger

CLYDE — Frances “Shorty” Lucille Snyder Swanger, 91, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Smoky Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Pearson and Hazel Mae Rhodarmer Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy F. Swanger, who died Jan. 17, 1992; two sisters, Evelyn Swann and Ruth S. Jones; and a nephew, Roger Norris. She was a dedicated member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church. Frances loved to dance and was a talented clogger and devoted member of the Pisgah Cloggers and Pisgah Promenaders Western Dance Club.
She is survived by a niece, Verba Norris, of Clyde, and a great nephew, John Norris, of Salt Lake City, Utah.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Gaddy and James Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
