Fred Green, Jr.
CANTON — Louie Fred Green, Jr., 71, of High Top Drive, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013.
Mr. Green was born March 31, 1942 in Cocke County, Tennessee to the late Louie Fred Green and the late Callie Lillian Alexander Green. He was a United States Army veteran. Mr. Green had resided in Virginia before making his home in Haywood County for the past 23 years. He was a self-employed block and brick mason. Mr. Green was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia. Fred was truly a NASCAR racing fan and also enjoyed local dirt track racing at the Smoky Mountain Raceway. He loved his family deeply, and his grandchildren were truly the joy of their Papaw’s life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Mark Wayne Green of Waynesville, Ronnie Allen Green of Bryson City and Angela Marie Johnson and her husband, Bobby Joe Johnson, Jr. of Canton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Geneva Harbin of Morristown, Tennessee and Ethel Mull of Canton; brothers, J.C. Green of Talbott, Tennessee and Robert Green of Barhamsville, Virginia; a special nephew, Skip Parsons of Canton; his former wife and close friend, Diane Sanderlin of Canton; and several other nephews and nieces.
A memorial service is planned for later in the month at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at New Covenant Church in Clyde. At other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 224 High Top Drive in Canton.
