1929 – 2012

CANTON — Robert Frederick Murray, 83, passed away  Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Hermitage House, in Dillsboro.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Owen F. and Elza Mae Mease Murray.  Fred was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Canton First Baptist Church.  He was a 50-year member of the Sonoma Lodge #472 AF&AM and was a 32^nd degree Scottish rite mason.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Hudson Murray; one daughter, Vanessa Jeffery, and her husband, Tommy, of Taylors, South Carolina; one son, Bob Murray, and his wife, Julie, of Canton; one brother, Leroy Murray, of Canton; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
