Free fall prevention program June 19

By Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department | Jun 06, 2014

Mountaineer Complete Care will host a free program on fall prevention at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at the Waynesville Recreation Center.

Every year, one out of three adults over the age of 65 will fall, and over 2 million will be taken to the emergency room to be treated. Falls account for 25 percent of all hospital admissions and 40 percent of all nursing home admissions.

Understanding fall prevention is an important aspect of everyday life. As we continue to age, health conditions coupled with physical changes tend to increase the risk of a fall related injury.

Come learn some simple, effective strategies for preventing falls. This program will be presented by Stephanie Sutton and Jodie Wood of Mountaineer Complete Care.
