Canton library hosts Internet safety for kids workshop Sept. 26
Parents and caregivers are invited to join the Canton Branch Library and @ Home Computer Services for a free workshop on how to help children make safe choices while using the Internet. The workshop will be held at the Canton Branch Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and will be led by Kelley Worth of @ Home Computer Services based in Canton.
Children today are surrounded by technology, whether it be the world wide web, e-mail, chat rooms, social media, smart phones, texting or online gaming. How can parents and caregivers help children safely navigate the online world? With technology comes the opportunity for new learning experiences and ways in which to communicate with others, but there are also potential risks: Internet addiction, cyber bullying and the possibility of revealing too much personal information, to name a few.
This free workshop will be interactive, and questions from the audience will be welcomed. Parents and caregivers will be encouraged to share their concerns, and will leave with recommendations on how to help their children stay safe while using the Internet. Please call 648-2924 if you plan to attend, or if you have any questions about the workshop. The library is located at 11 Pennsylvania Ave. in Canton.
