The Classic Wineseller welcomes Gregg Kidd, Lee Kram, and Chris Minick to the "Friday Night Live"music series from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 18, 2013. Dinner is served beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Angelino’s Piattino in the Classic Wineseller, 20 Church Street in Waynesville. There is a $10 minimum purchase per person including food, drink and retail purchases.
Members of this local trio are regulars on the music scene in Waynesville, performing folksy American rock, blues, rock 'n' roll, reggae, swing and original music. And don't let the typical instrumentation of the group fool you — the music is anything but typical. The group’s playing produces vivid recollections and thoughtful reflections on music from the '60s, '70s and '80s.
An AB Tech environmental biology teacher by day, Kidd is also a talented bass player known for his clean style and booming bass line that propels the music.
Originally from St. Louis, Kram’s strong improvisational nature has provided the percussion support to drive a number of groups over the years, from Grateful Dead cover bands to the bluegrass and Americana sounds of the Timbler Rattlers.
Minick has been composing and playing music for more than 25 years. His unmistakeable guitar riffs provide a solid background for the music. As a trumpeter, improvisational ragtime and jazz are his forté. Minick’s diverse influences include Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, and other American music pioneers.
Each week the Classic Wineseller's popular "Friday Night Live" music series showcases local, regional and — on occasion — national talent. For more information about the series and other live music events visit www.classicwineseller.com or www.facebook.com/theclassicwineseller or call 452-6000.
