Critically acclaimed author Ron Rash will be the guest speaker at the Friends Annual Meeting.   He will read from his latest collection of short stories NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY.  His books will be available for purchase and he will be signing copies.

Ron Rash is the author of New York Times bestselling novels THE COVE and SERENA- a 2009 PEN/Faulkner finalist, in addition to three prize-winning novels, ONE FOOT IN EDEN, SAINTS AT THE RIVER, and WORLD MADE STRAIGHT; three collections of poems; and four previous collections of stories, among them BURNING BRIGHT, which won the 2010 Frank O'Conner International Short Story Award, and CHEMISTRY AND OTHER STORIES which was a finalist for the 2007 PEN/Faulkner Award.  Twice the recipient of the O. Henry Prize, Rash teaches at Western Carolina University.

New officers and board members will be elected during a short business meeting.  Friend of the Year will be named.

A dessert buffet will be offered by Kanini's following the reading.  Tickets for the event are $8 and can be purchased  at all library branches, Blue Ridge Books and Gallery 86.  Tickets should be purchased ahead of time.  There will be a limited number of tickets sold at the door.
