Full-color license plates discussed again
Folks wanting to support the "Friends of the Smokies" by purchasing its popular license plate with the big bear on it have to do it before July 2015, unless the N. C. Senate votes within the next few weeks to reinstate it.
The N. C. General Assembly voted last year to end all full-color license plate programs. Since then, the N. C. House has had second thoughts. The House passed HB1035 during this year's short session which would put the bear back on the bumper.
HB1035 crossed over to the Senate Monday, June 11, and passed its first Senate reading, with a few changes to the original bill recommended by the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee.
