In just a few weeks, there will be no more flying monkeys on Main Street.
Fun Things Etc. — and the toy store’s best-selling chimp slingshots — are about say goodbye to Waynesville after more than six years. Owner Denise Teague estimates the store will be closed in about a month.

Though she has been talking about these plans for a while, the reality of all this still seems to be sinking in. On Tuesday afternoon, right after she helped a few customers, she smiled wistfully as she talked about her mixed feelings. On one hand, she’s excited about the possibility that the future holds.

On the other, “I’m sad that I’m not going to get to do what just happened,” she said. “Talk to kids, talk to customers, play on Main Street on a regular basis.”
