Elvis, Dolly Parton, Reba McIntire and Marilyn Monroe will be among the legends heard at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Colonial Theater in Canton. Tickets are $15 and will benefit the construction of a no-kill feline sanctuary on Rabbit Skin Road in Waynesville.

Local entertainer and event coordinator Angie Toomey is rounding up local talent for an exciting night of music with performances by PAR III, Joe and Tina Clark, Robin Graf, Paul Indelicato, Myra Mintz, Raven Morris, Betty Natzke, Ashley Wood and John Parris as Elvis.

"We are looking forward to helping FUR raise more money for their new building," said Toomey. "We are all animal lovers and enjoy giving back to the community. We have an awesome show planned, so get your tickets soon.”

As guardians of displaced felines, the mission of Feline Urgent Rescue (FUR) of WNC, Inc.  is to provide a safe haven for cats in Western North Carolina, thereby reducing the homeless population, shelter euthanasia rates and by filling a gap in the rescue community as a last-resort sanctuary.

"Volunteers are working hard to get this sanctuary built," said Bob West, project manager. "The roofing material will be installed next week."

Ticket locations include Belle on Main Salon, High Country Style, Haywood Computer, Carlene’s on Miller, and Realty World Heritage Realty in Maggie Valley.
