Garden club beautifies the Rec Center
The Waynesville Garden Club recently completed a beautification project on either side of the entrance to the Waynesville Recreation Center.
Kim Powers, with the Waynesville Garden Club, spearheaded the effort working with Jonathan Yates, horticulturist for the town of Waynesville, and his team who chose the plants for the two areas and installed them.
Rhett Langston, the Director of Parks and Recreation Department recently said,
“We receive comments every day from our members remarking on how beautiful the landscaping looks,” said Rhett Langston, the director of the Parks and Recreation Department. “The generosity of the Waynesville Garden Club to identify, fund and lead this project is very much appreciated.”
The Waynesville Garden Club was established in 1953. The club members complete many worthwhile projects throughout the city of Waynesville and also fund scholarships each year to local high school seniors who are following a program related to horticulture.
