Pictured above are Sylvia Lonnee (left), president of the Waynesville Garden Club, presenting the donation to Donda Bennett, executive director of the Good Samaritan Clinic. Below, April Carroll, pantry manager of The Open Door, is shown with the donation and Perry Hines, director. Next photo, Tray Shapiro, victim advocate of REACH of Haywood County was happy to receive the club’s donation.

The true meaning of Christmas was the focus at the December meeting of the Waynesville Garden Club.  Kim Powers and Terrie McCracken set up a silent auction with items donated by members. A unanimous vote directed that proceeds be gifted to three local charities, The Open Door, REACH, and Good Samaritan Clinic.

The Waynesville club not only does the usual garden projects, but it also participates in education and beautification of the community.  Members voted to continue with the college scholarship fun for 2013 and to complete the club’s garden space at Shelton House.
