Garden Council announces spring lunch May 7
Tickets are now on sale for the Waynesville Council of Garden Clubs’ annual luncheon, to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, at the Terrace Hotel, located at 689 Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska.
The keynote presentation, titled “Careful Care of Roses,” will be give by Roddy Ray, Lake Junaluska grounds and landscape manager. The program will end with a tour of the Rose Walk.
Spring is here and gardeners start thinking about the outdoors and their gardens. What better way to enjoy the romance of a garden than by growing roses? Rose gardening has received a bad rap in recent years. Growing roses doesn’t have to be challenging. Choose the right roses for each growing condition and a garden is halfway to having a spectacular rose garden.
The Waynesville Garden Council is made up of two local garden clubs — the Waynesville Garden Club and the Richland Creek Garden Club. The annual luncheon is a chance for everyone to celebrate activities and accomplishments in the previous year.
The council will also present a rose exhibit at the Haywood County Library June 11-14. Admission will be free.
Tickets for the annual spring luncheon, program and tour are $26 and can be purchased from any garden club member or by calling Helen Henry at 452-2411. This event is open to the public. The deadline for purchasing tickets is May 1.
