Gardeners tour the Susanna Wesley Garden Sept. 17
The Tuscola Garden Club will open its 2013-14 season with a special tour of the Susanna Wesley Garden, adjacent to the World Methodist Museum at 575 N. Lakeshore Drive at Lake Junaluska. The tour will be led by Doug Shock, landscaper and caretaker of the garden.
Named after John Wesley's mother, the Susanna Wesley Garden is a quiet place for prayer and meditation and can be reserved for weddings, receptions and other events.
Dr. Lee F. Tuttle, the World Methodist Council general secretary from 1960 to 1976, created the garden. Three years ago the garden underwent major renovations and was rededicated in September 2010. A variety of new floral exhibits are planted each season to bring beautiful color to the garden.
The public is welcome to join club members at the garden at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17. In case of rain, members will be addressed by Mr. Shock in the World Methodist Museum. For information, call 452-7176.
